OmniSpherer Elite has launched…
A members club designed to help you “Get more from your Spectrasonics OmniSphere Power Synth”.
Omnisphere from Spectrasonics is one of the most powerful potential virtual synths to be released this decade. But like its older, less developed, brother, it suffers a huge risk of become a “wow preset machine”. You know those really impressive sounds that you suddenly notice everywhere. And the first person who users is, is the man. Everyone else is the cloner. It should just be about the music, but with modern productions the sound character is a major part of the story. And for some reason the audience is less forgiving with repeated synth sounds, than with guitar, vocal, drum, or any other natural instrument. If you have any theories as to why that is, I’d love to hear them in the comments below.
Another classic problem with factory sound sets is that they are designed to sound impressive when used in single mode, in a shop. But as you know, once you start to produce an entire track, which need to evolve and its story to grow, “impressive” presets can be a real limitation.
That’s why we were so excited to discover the power and potential available form this soft synth. It means we can go in and customise and build from scratch, sounds which exactly fit our purpose.
Electric guitarists have doen it fom decaes, using amplifier choice and settings, combined with pick-up selection, effects pedals and playing techniques.
Electronic synth keyboardists have really been spoilt by the vast array of presets provides. Literally 100’s of them straight from the factory.
But this poses many problems in itself.
Most manufacturers use a small group of sound designers and they have their own “house style”. Plus who ever compiles the bank has a personal bias for the music they personally like. It’s only natural!
Also how many presets have you ever really listened to? Even if you start with good intentions, don;t you get side tracked and start writing a song with ones you like? How many sounds can you remember? What about ranking or indexing them? Hmm drag! In fact too much choice is a bad thing. options take time to evaluate and in the middle of composing, or production, who has time for that?
What about the fact that your production is now totally limited by which preset you happen to dial up! Your creativity is now based on randomness and the laws of chaos.
Unless you can edit sounds yourself to get what YOU want, you will always be a preset slave.
Omnisphere is a powerful synth, and power usually come with complexity. But OmniSphere Elite are here to help you unravel and tame your power synth. Plus the sounds we fffer ourselves, are all categorised. And none of them are factory presets that every other owner has.
So our core aim is to give you control. But even if you just want to have fun and be a preset jockey, then you will find joining the Elite a captivating experience. Share and discover new preset leads with other Elite members.
Even if you prefer to use presets specifically to inspire you (you want to be dominated and inspired by a preset) then OmniSphere Elite has even more presets all categorised, but you can turn off the categoriastion if you really want
But we are fairly sure you will enjoy the instant edits and power tweaks membership can give you.
And if you are already a hard core programmer and tweak smith, our deep clinics should help you to cover more depth more quickly. And if you are that good, you can use the OmniSphere Elite Market Place and Shop to monetise your talent and skill.
Or you can simply chill out and share your general music making journey with the tribe.
The choice s yours.
But all roads lead to OmniSphere Elite.
And who wouldn’t want to be Elite?
Happy Power Synth’ing
Peter
